HO Weng Hin

Ho Weng Hin is co-founder of Studio Lapis,an award-winning architectural conservation specialist consultancy based in Singapore with local and overseas projects whose work has garnered accolades such as the Singapore Urban Redevelopment Authority Architectural Heritage Awards and the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation. He obtained his M.Arch degree at NUS DOA, and postgraduate specialist diploma in architectural conservation at the University of Genoa, Italy, with top honours.
He is founding chapter Chair of DOCOMOMO Singapore and a founding board director of the Singapore National Committee of ICOMOS,an advisory body to UNESCO on heritage conservation. He is also Expert Member and Bureau Vice President on the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Twentieth Century Heritage (ISC20C). Weng Hin serves on government advisory committees on heritage policy and planning.
As adjunct faculty at the DOA, Weng Hin was convenor and co-organizer of a number of hands-on Conservation Field Schools under the auspices of the NUS Tun Tan Cheng Lock Centre for Asian Built Heritage, and co-leader of the UM-NUS Joint Studio in Cultural Heritage Studies in various historic towns of Malaysia. He is currently an M.Arch Thesis supervisor focused on the theme of Heritage and Adaptive Reuse. Weng Hin recently taught in the inaugural International Course on the Conservation of Modern Heritage organized by the Getty Conservation Institute.
An ardent advocate for Singapore's built heritage, Weng Hin is co-author of several books including Our Modern Past: A Visual Survey of Singapore Architecture, 1920s-70s, a ground-breaking book commissioned by the Singapore Heritage Society. He was also former co-editor of The Singapore Architect, the professional journal of the Singapore Institute of Architects.
