Responsible for planning and executing significant TAS functions, the Events committee coordinates academic ceremonies, community-building gatherings, and celebratory occasions. Its activities require meticulous logistical management and strategic planning, facilitating student engagement and enriching the collective experience within the faculty.
05.1 AKILA 2025
AKILA supports the annual Freshmen Orientation Programme for Architecture and Landscape Architecture students.
The event is designed to introduce new students to life at NUS DOA, featuring:
– Guest lectures sharing insights from both student and industry experiences
– Activities that highlight design thinking and studio culture
– Opportunities for freshmen to get a preview of academic and social life in the architecture community
– AKILA helps students settle in, get inspired, and connect with peers and mentors from the start of their journey.
05.2 Black Par-TEA
The Inter-Year Tea Party fosters connections across all years in the NUS Department of Architecture, strengthening collaboration and support within the student community.
What to expect:
– Strengthen inter-year networking and collaboration
– Engage in casual yet insightful discussions on studio life, internships, and exchange experiences
– Participate in anonymous Q&A via Mentimeter or Pigeonhole
– Visit themed senior booths in a career-fair style format based on areas of interest (e.g. internship, exchange, studio)
– Promote work-life balance and peer support while building a warm, welcoming architectural community
The event encourages open conversations and knowledge-sharing in a relaxed, informal setting.
