The IWA webinar on “Micro-pollutants Removal in Water Reclamation” was successfully held on January 23, 2025. The webinar was co-organized IWA ACHSWSG and WRSG, and co-moderated by Professor Hu Jiangyong, Chair of the IWA ACHSWSG, and Mr Josef Lahnsteiner, Chair of the IWA WRSG. Four invited speakers from Professor Li Wenwei (China), Assistant Professor Haruka Takeuchi (Japan), Dr Shayok Ghosh (Singapore) and Dr Thomas Honer (Namibia) were invited to speak in the webinar. Dr. Shayok Ghosh, a NUS graduate from Prof. Hu’s group, currently an environmental consultant working in AECOM Singapore, was invited to speak in the webinar and serve as a panelist in the webinar. He discussed the use of the UV/Chlorine process for decomposing emerging organic contaminants. His presentation covered the generation of radicals in the UV/Chlorine process under various wavelengths and pH levels, the effectiveness of this process in pollutant degradation and the potential for the formation of disinfection by-products (DBPs).

The session was highly engaging, with more than 500 participants across the world who contributed many insightful questions, comments and suggestions.
