Centre for Environmental Resilience
About Us
The center is aimed to create a living environment where urbanization and environmental preservation coexist harmoniously, where waste is transformed into resources, food security is ensured, and cities achieve net-zero waste and carbon emissions.
Mission
The mission of the center is to advance cutting-edge interdisciplinary research to address the complex and interconnected environmental pollution challenges posed by rapid urbanization, climate change, and resource constraints. Through innovative scientific discoveries and technological solutions, we aim to foster a sustainable environment conducive to food production, environmental pollutants remediation, waste upcycling, energy conservation, and climate change mitigation, striving towards net-zero waste generation and carbon emissions.
The research areas include environmental biotechnology, circular economy and waste upcycling, urban food security, water-food-energy-waste nexus, high throughput environmental genomics, net-zero solutions, resource resilience, urbanization and environmental policy.
Novel microorganisms and bioprocesses for pollution control, industrial pollutants treatment, and sustainable resource management
Technologies for converting municipal solid waste, IBA/IFA, and mixed waste in landfills into value-added products while minimizing environmental impact.
Omics-based approaches for discovering, characterizing, and tracking multi-tasking microbes in toxic and persistent pollutants remediation as well as disease causing microbes and virus
Solution for net-zero waste generation and carbon emissions in urban systems through innovative technologies and policies
Urban food and resource resilience to climate change, including sustainable infrastructure, disaster preparedness, circular economy, waste-to-resource transformation, and community engagement
