Biography

Professor Qian Xudong is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the National University of Singapore. He currently serves as Deputy Head (Administration and Finance) of CEE, Director (Strategy, Partnerships and Technology Translation) of the Coastal Protection and Flood Resilience Institute (CFI) Singapore, Director of the Centre for Offshore Research and Engineering (CORE), and Director of the Centre for Advanced Materials and Structures (CAMS).

His research focuses on structural integrity and resilience, with particular interests in fatigue and fracture, structural digital twins and data-driven integrity assessment, floating and offshore structures, advanced structural materials, and additive manufacturing. His research increasingly integrates mechanics-based modelling, sensing and data-driven approaches to support the assessment, monitoring and lifecycle management of large-scale engineering structures.

Professor Qian has led and contributed to major research programmes in structural integrity, offshore engineering and coastal resilience, working closely with academic, government and industry partners. He is also actively engaged in international professional and academic service in the fields of fatigue, fracture and structural engineering.
