Assistant Professor Dr. Zhang Sui was recently awarded the 2022 Faculty Research award.

She leads an advanced membrane research lab that focusses on understanding of fundamental membrane formation and transport, and ultimate applications in separation processes. Her proudest achievement to date is the fouling-resistant hollow fiber membranes for water desalination.

It can help save more than 40% energy cost in existing systems and is now in the pre-commercialisation pilot stage. The technology can be applied to both reverse osmosis and nanofiltration.
