Internships are a key facet of our emphasis on learning by doing. Through them, you gain perspectives on real-world issues while working on real-life projects alongside engineering practitioners.

All students are required to complete the internship component (10-units) as part of the BEng degree requirement*

*Internship is optional if you are a polytechnic graduate – the units for IA can be utilised as UECs.
For NUS Overseas College (NOC) students, internship requirement is mapped to their NOC experience.

Typically in Year 3 Semester 1 or Semester 2, you would embark on a compulsory Industrial Attachment (IA) of at least 20 weeks. During your IA, you would be able read up to 2 technical electives in the evenings to fulfil your major requirements, or other evening modules to count as unrestricted elective courses (UECs) subjected to companies’ approval.

Internship positions will be offered for your selection through an online internship portal. You may also source for your own internship opportunities with companies that are not in the portal.
