Research Degrees

Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) A Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) program in the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering is a graduate-level program designed to provide students with specialized training and in-depth knowledge in chemical & biomolecular engineering. Whether students are interested in pursuing careers in process design, research & development, manufacturing, or consulting, an M.Eng. degree will equip them with expertise for success in their chosen fields.
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) The Ph.D. program in the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering is an advanced academic program designed to equip students with the skills to advance the field through original research and innovation. This program typically spans 4 years and requires students to complete coursework, pass qualifying exams, and conduct independent research culminating in a doctoral dissertation. It is a rigorous and intensive course of study that prepares students for diverse careers in academia, industry, government, and other sectors where advanced expertise in chemical & biomolecular engineering is required.
Doctor of Engineering (Eng.D.) The Eng.D. program in the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering is a specialized doctoral program that combines academic research with real-world industrial experience. Unlike traditional Ph.D. programs, where the primary focus is on academic research, the Eng.D. program is structured to provide students with opportunities to work closely with industry partners and gain practical experience in applying their research to industrial problems. It offers students a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academia and industry, gaining both theoretical knowledge and practical experience to address real-world challenges in chemical & biomolecular engineering. This program can lead to rewarding careers in industry, research institutions, government agencies, or entrepreneurship within the chemical & biomolecular engineering sector.
