Isaac Manasseh Meyer (IMM) Visiting Chair Professor

Alexei Lapkin studied biochemistry at Novosibirsk State University. After graduation with an integrated Masters, he was appointed as a junior scientist at Boreskov Institute of Catalysis. He then moved to UK where (2000) he completed his PhD under the supervision of Prof. W.J. Thomas at the University of Bath in the area of catalytic reaction engineering. He was then appointed on a tenure track academic position at the same department. In 2009 he was appointed as a Chair in Engineering at the University of Warwick. Since 2013 he holds his current position of Professor of Sustainable Reaction Engineering at the University of Cambridge. He has been actively involved in research in Singapore since 2015 within Cambridge Centre for Advanced Research and Education in Singapore (CARES). Since 2025 he is a co-Director of CARES with responsibility for entrepreneurship.Â
