Our Department was recently awarded the NUS Safety & Health Commitment Award 2020. The NUS Safety & Health Awards 2020 is a programme to give recognition to NUS Faculties, Departments, and Research Centres/Institutes (henceforth known as department) which have implemented an effective department safety and health management system (DSHMS) that would help reduce accidents and incidents in workplaces. It also encourages and rewards departments which have implemented or maintained sound DSHMS to self-regulate safety & health (S&H), build positive S&H culture, and promote sharing of knowledge, experience and best practices.

The Department Safety Committee would like to thank each and every one involved, from students, lab personnel, administrative colleagues, research staffs to faculty members, especially the Head of Department. The committee has organized regular S&H events for the department, and is dedicated to making it a safer place to study, work and live. The award indicates the good safety performance in the review period of 2017-2020. NUS ChBE will continue to cultivate a positive S&H culture and impose appropriate S&H regulations on all research and teaching activities.
