Prof Liu Bin Awarded the Prestigious President’s Science Award (PSA) for 2024


Congratulations to Prof Liu Bin (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering) on being awarded the prestigious President’s Science Award (PSA) for 2024.

The award – the nation’s highest scientific honour – recognises her breakthrough research on how organic semiconductors emit light. Her discovery sheds light – literally! – on a long-standing scientific puzzle and has the potential to open up new technological possibilities in areas such medical diagnostics, optical data encryption.

Prof Liu is a world-renowned researcher in the field of organic functional materials. She currently holds the post of Deputy President (Research and Technology) at NUS and Tan Chin Tuan Centennial Professor.

Prof Teo Kie Leong, Dean, stated that CDE has benefited greatly from Prof Liu Bin’s contributions as a leading faculty member in the College. “A leader in every sense of the word, she inspires our young academics and students to stretch themselves to achieve new heights.”

“Prof Liu Bin was a remarkable catalyst as Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering. From leading the recruitment of the best academic talent to sparking exciting new educational and research programmes, she brought the department through a period of rapid development,” shared Prof Saif Khan, the current Head of the Department.
