Welcome to the Centre for 5G Digital Building Technology website.

The Department of the Built Environment has developed an Integrated Roadmap to influence the state of art of digital building technology across research, industry and education to augment the capability of the Singapore Construction Industry. The Centre for 5G Digital Building Technology (5GDBT) will assist the local construction industry to achieve productivity Improvement by transforming the way people design, deliver and manage the built environment through digital building innovation and practice. This will deliver greater value to clients and users in terms of cost reduction, higher quality, safety, and better performance of facilities over the entire life cycle. To achieve this goal, the 5GDBT conducts a series of digital building research projects to develop and implement best practices. It works with local stakeholders as well as international collaborators.

The centre's aim is "Having Solutions Targeted for the People, by the People"

To Fulfill this aim, the centre is committed to work along three paths:

    • Bridging Disciplines : Synergizing fragmented disciplines in order to enable more effective digital building technology collaboration.
    • Innovating Solutions : Researching state-of-the-art solutions in order to inspire digital building technology innovation.
    • Managing Process : Analyzing user feedback in order to guide future directions in digital building technology development.

The 5GDBT encompasses professors, researchers and PhD scholars from the Department of the Built Environment. It is managed by Director, Assistant Professor Shah Kwok Wei (Dr). The Centre is supported by a Steering Committee, comprising NUS staff and representatives from industry.
