Heartiest congratulations to Ms. Cheryl Ng Wen Xuan (PFM Year 4 Student), whose dissertation work with Dr. Stephen Tay on vehicle-integrated photovoltaics (VIPV) was ranked highly by the International Scientific Committee and subsequently accepted for an oral presentation in the SNEC 2020 Scientific Conference.
Her work contributes to the growing field of VIPV, which has been identified by the International Energy Agency as a focus area. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours as a graduate of the Department and future leader in the Sustainable Built Environment.
What is this conference about?
The SNEC 14th (2020) International Photovoltaic Power Generation and Smart Energy Exhibition & Conference held in Shanghai, China, is a conference that highlights new sustainable developments within the solar industry. Our PFM student, Cheryl Ng, was invited to give an oral presentation about her dissertation topic titled “A tropical case study quantifying solar irradiance collected on a car roof for vehicle integrated photovoltaics (VIPV) towards low-carbon cities” at this conference. Her project was a novel research about the potential of incorporating solar energy powered cars into Singapore’s current transport mix based on its environmental conditions.
