Associate Professor Kua Harn Wei and Research Associate Abhimanyu Goel were invited by Dr Dong Kaijun, the Head of the Guangzhou Institute of Energy, Chinese Academy of Sciences, to deliver talks on their research concerning biochar building materials and 3D printing.
Their presentations focused on the use of biochar to enhance the sequestration of carbon in concrete as well as improve the performance, durability, and sustainability of construction materials.
The Institute expressed keen interest in collaborating with the department on a student exchange program and a joint application for research funding from sources in both China and Singapore.
Specifically, the Institute is keen to explore potential research collaborations involving waterproofing techniques for concrete, life cycle assessments of biochar building materials, and biochar application in concrete and asphaltic roads.
We look forward to their valuable contributions in the years ahead!
