IB applicants who are taking the May 2026 examination will hear from the University from the 2nd week of July.

Admission Requirements
- H2 pass in Mathematics or Further Mathematics. Please refer to https://cde.nus.edu.sg/ for details.
- Either General Paper (GP) or Knowledge Inquiry (KI) subject taken in the same sitting as the H2 content-based subjects.
- Fulfilment of the Mother Tongue Language (MTL) requirement.
Physics Bridging
- For Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘A’ level applicants, we require H2 Mathematics; we also have equivalent requirements for those with other qualifications. (Please refer here for more information).
- Although physics is not an admission requirement, those without H2 Physics (or equivalent) may be asked to take a bridging course to prepare for higher-level courses that require this knowledge. (Please refer here for more information).
A recognised Diploma and certificate in Mathematics and Physics
Students without the above can still apply for the IPM programme but will have to take the Mathematics and Physics Bridging Modules (Click here for more details)
Good grades in an accredited Diploma from a local Polytechnic (please refer to OAM website for more details)
*Polytechnic diploma holders admitted to a 3 or 4 year programme may be granted Advanced Placement Credits (APC) in relevant courses for up to a maximum of 40 units. 40 units is equivalent to 1 year of study.
All polytechnic students will be required to sit for the Qualifying English Test (QET) set by the Centre for English Language Communication (CELC)
- Students who obtain Band 1 will have to take ES1000 followed by ES1103
- Students who obtain Band 2 will have to take ES1103
- Students who obtain Band 3 are exempted from these English modules

Students that are unable to obtain Band 3 from QET Test will be required to read the English Bridging modules (Click here for more details at the CELC website).
- A good major Grade Point Average (GPA) in Mathematics (Please refer to OAM website for more details).
- Meet NUS Mother Tongue Language (MTL) requirements.
Physics Bridging Course
- Good Major Grade Point Average (GPA) in Physics
* Students without A-level H2 Physics or IB HL Physics or NUSHS Major CAP in Physics can still apply for the IPM programme, but will have to take the Physics Bridging Course (Click here for more details).
- Pass in HL Mathematics Analysis and Approaches (MAA). (please refer to OAM website for more details)
Physics Bridging Course
- Pass in HL Physics
Students without the above can still apply for the IPM programme but will have to take the Physics Bridging Module (Click here for more details)
First Choice Bonus Points
To support and encourage you to pursue your passions and interest, NUS offers the First Choice Bonus Points Scheme, where you will get bonus points added to your admission score for your first choice non-interview single degree course* when NUS evaluates your application for admissions.
For Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' Levels
The bonus points, which is up to 2.5 points, will be added to the student’s admission score for the first choice non-interview single degree programmes when the university evaluates the application for admission.
For Polytechnic Diplomas
The bonus points, which is up to 0.04 points, will be added to the student’s admission score for the first choice non-interview single degree programmes when the university evaluates the application for admission.
For IB Diplomas:
The bonus points, which is up to 1 point, will be added to the student’s admission score for the first choice non-interview single degree programmes when the university evaluates the application for admission.
For NUS High School Diplomas:
The bonus points, which is up to 0.2 points, will be added to the student’s admission score for the first choice non-interview single degree programmes when the university evaluates the application for admission.
* Excludes double-degree programmes, second majors, minors, E-Scholars and Engineering & Medicine Track
