Introduction

The Department of Building (DOB) at NUS has been involved with pioneering work in the building science domain since the late 70s. Most of the members in the current team in this field started their research career in DOB in the early 90s and have made significant contributions over the past two decades, locally and internationally, in the fields of Energy and Sustainability. The Centre for Total Building Performance (CTBP), which was established in 2000, underwent a minor review in mid-2013 with the receipt of a strategic initiative grant from NUS in Energy Efficiency that led to the creation of the Centre for Integrated Building Energy and Sustainability in the Tropics (CiBEST), consisting of two research clusters:

  • Building Energy Efficiency (BEE) Hub Research Cluster
  • Sustainable Buildings Research Cluster
