MSc (Project Management)

Introduction

The Master of Science (Project Management) [MSc (PM)] programme was established in 1986, making it one of the oldest project management programmes in the world. It aims to provide professionals with the sound management skills and techniques necessary for the successful completion of complex projects in different industries. Participants from overseas feature strongly on all intakes and the wide mix of expertise allows for meaningful exchange and interaction at graduate level.

Programme Details

The programme has two tracks:

  • Normal track (3 essential courses +  any 4 PM courses + 3 UE courses); and
  • Specialization track (3 essential courses + any 5 specialization courses + 2 UE courses).

Students are encouraged to take UE courses from other faculties to suit their professional specializations.

Each graduate course is typically assigned 4 Modular Units.

Of the 40 Units, at least 30 Units must be at the graduate level within the subject or in a related discipline as per our course lists; the remaining credits (max 10 Units) may be level 5000/6000 graduate courses from other CDE departments which are not included in our course lists but subjected to approval by the home department, host department and the courses’ vacancy.

The programme operates on full-time (one year) and part-time modes (two years). It is taught by senior faculty members and industry experts.

Admission Requirements

  1. At least a bachelor’s degree with honours in a relevant discipline or a bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience;
  2. Preferably at least 2 years of relevant post-graduation experience; and
  3. A good TOEFL score or equivalent if the medium of instruction is not in English.For further information on the English Language requirement: please click here.

Classes: Evening classes only (7-10pm). Part-time students attend 2 or 3 classes per week, and full-time students attend 4 or 5 classes per week.

Continuation and Graduation Requirements

  1. Fulfil all course requirements (40 Units) within their maximum candidature period (4 semesters for full-time and 6 semesters for part-time).
  2. Achieve a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.0.
