Cities of Tomorrow Grant: Integrated Smart Predictive Remote Sensing Technology for Ground Settlement Monitoring

Congratulations to Assistant Professor Wang Qian and his team for the Award of “Integrated Smart Predictive Remote Sensing Technology for Ground Settlement Monitoring”, funded by Cities of Tomorrow (CoT) R&D Programme. Do read more about the project below!

This project aims to research and develop a methodology on the combined use of photogrammetry and LiDAR technologies to measure ground surface settlement remotely and more accurately, and its adoption into a predictive Internet-of-Things (IoT) based platform seamlessly to achieve near real-time reporting. It aims to develop an efficient, accurate and easy to use remote sensing monitoring methodology involving photogrammetry and LiDAR accompanied with smart algorithms for final ground settlement prediction capable of rapid deployment within LTA projects. The project outcome is expected to reduce working time spent on acquisition and analysis of field measurement data and to achieve millimetres accuracy of the ground settlement measurement.
