Congratulations to Dr. Souradeep Gupta, an alumnus of Department of Building, PhD ’19, and a former research fellow, for receiving the highly competitive Discovery Early Career Research Award (DECRA) from the Australian Research Council (ARC). His proposed research, funded by ARC (AUD 450,000 for 3 years) and hosted at the University of New South Wales in Sydney (UNSW), aims to curb the concentration of pollutants in the air using engineered lightweight building material technology. Dr. Gupta has also been offered a tenure-track faculty appointment (Asst. Prof.) by the Centre for Sustainable Technologies at Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. IISc is ranked #1 among Indian science and technology universities.
Souradeep received his Master’s (with Gold medal) and PhD. from National University of Singapore (NUS), before moving to UNSW, Australia for his post-doctoral research. Based on the outcome of his PhD research, he co-founded a technology start-up, Biochar Innovations Pte. Ltd., together with Assoc Prof. Kua Harn Wei, through Graduate Research and Innovation Program (GRIP) supported by NUS Enterprise.
