Sensor-based mobile app system for safety behaviour self-diagnosis & innovations

Congratulations to Associate Professor Hwang Bon-Gang and his team for the Award of Research Project, “Sensor-based mobile app system for safety behaviour self-diagnosis & innovations”, funded by Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation. Do read more about the project below!

Project Title: Sensor-based mobile app system for safety behaviour self-diagnosis & innovations

Project Duration: 30 months

Project Grantor: Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation (NTFCF)

Project PI: A/Prof Hwang Bon Gang

Project Summary: This study aims to develop a mobile application for construction site workers to automatically diagnose at-risk

behaviors and unsafe conditions, self-assess and improve the safety performance through the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Real Time Location System (RTLS). By capturing location and real-time behavioural data, the application can provide real-time warning information and post-modification safety advices, as well as personalized safety performance evaluation and feedback. The results can be used to reinforce safety training as well as to develop a bonus/ penalty scheme to strengthen on-site safety behaviour and correct unsafe behaviours.
