Semiconductor Awareness Day 2024
Semiconductors are an essential component in the electronic products we see around us. Because of their ubiquity, there is an ever-growing demand for talent and innovation in the semiconductor industry. To cater to this need, the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA), in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), held the Semiconductor Awareness Day on 20 August 2024 at the EA Atrium.
Twenty companies were in attendance for students to interact with and learn more about the semiconductor industry. These included major semiconductor firms such as Micron, GlobalFoundries, and Applied Materials. In addition to the company booths, talks hosted by EDB Singapore and the semiconductor employers helped students gain insights into the industry.
Siddhi, a Year 2 student from Electrical Engineering, was excited to attend the event and said, “As an undergraduate with a strong interest in the semiconductor industry, this event is perfect for me as it brings so many players into one location and allows me to learn the full spectrum of opportunities available to me in the industry.”
