CREATURE dives into the wonder of imagination, connecting children to the intangible form of nature - light. And by combining light with the anatomy of a creature, in a single form of a scale, the ambiguity of a creature harnesses the power of imaginative play. It allows endless possibilities to be interpreted and explored where children can create different stories throughout the day and night with this ever-changing playscape.

The key feature of CREATURE is the dichroic film scales. The reflective nature of the film provides an enchanting interaction with its surrounding nature and housing estates.

Children are able to perceive this dynamic playscape in different colours, such as the hues of pink, orange, yellow and blue, from different perspectives.
This playscape consists of four elements - head, ribs, body and tail. It allows modularity in the formation to create endless possibilities in the child’s imagination.

At night, the mysterious glow emitted prompts children’s curiosity to interact with nature beyond daylight.
Through form and material exploration, we tested out the diachronic film on-site as well as built a 1:20 scale model to showcase the magical effect.
