
On 10 July 2026, the Centre for Research on Energy Systems & Technologies (CREST) at the National University of Singapore (NUS)successfully hosted the NUS Workshop on AI for Energy Materials – with Solid State Ionics Conference 2026 at LT7A, NUS.
This exciting event brought together leading scientists, researchers, industry experts, and students from across the globe to explore the rapidly evolving intersection of artificial intelligence and energy materials research. Participants from the United States, Europe, China, and Singapore highlighted the growing international momentum in AI-driven materials discovery and next-generation energy technologies.
The programme featured keynote lectures and invited talks covering cutting-edge topics such as:
- AI-assisted materials discovery
- Solid-state ionics and batteries
- Electrochemical energy storage
- Intelligent materials design
- Advanced characterization
- Autonomous experimentation
- Data-driven scientific innovation

A key highlight was the engaging panel discussion on the future of AI for Science, where experts shared insights on opportunities and challenges in integrating AI with materials research, energy storage, manufacturing, and sustainability. The session sparked meaningful conversations and fostered interdisciplinary collaboration.
The workshop also provided a valuable platform for early-career researchers and students to connect with leading experts, exchange ideas, and build new collaborations. The poster and networking sessions were filled with vibrant discussions and knowledge sharing.
