The first International Conference of Atomistic Simulation of Cementitious Materials (ICASCM) celebrated its successful inaugural workshop at the National University of Singapore’s Ridge View Residential College from 22-24 July 2024. Chaired by Assistant Professor Geng Guoqing, this event marked a significant milestone in the field of cementitious material research, bringing together a diverse group of more than 80 professors, researchers, and students from across the globe.
Over the past 15 years, atomistic simulation studies of cementitious materials have gained considerable momentum. To address the growing need for a platform where young researchers can learn and share the latest advancements in modelling methodologies, the ICASCM steering committee—comprising researchers from multiple continents—organized this groundbreaking conference.
The three-day event kicked off with an intensive hands-on training session, led by world-renowned researchers, which provided participants with invaluable insights into cutting-edge modelling methods and tools. This was followed by two days of extensive academic presentations, where researchers shared their latest findings and engaged in lively discussions.
The event not only fostered the exchange of innovative ideas but also strengthened the global network of researchers dedicated to advancing the field of simulation of cementitious materials. The success of the first ICASCM workshop sets a promising precedent for future gatherings, as the steering committee continues to support and inspire the next generation of researchers in this dynamic field.
