The recognition reflects Prof Hu’s contributions to water science and technology, especially in areas critical to cities facing growing challenges around water security, public health and sustainability.
Prof Hu’s research spans advanced water technologies, water reclamation and reuse, water quality assessment, the detection and removal of emerging contaminants, and sustainable stormwater management. Through this work, she has helped advance safer, cleaner and more resilient water systems for Singapore and beyond.
“In my work in alternative water resources, I am lucky to collaborate with respected colleagues at the Centre for Water Research and partners at CEE, CDE, and other institutions inside and outside of NUS,” said Prof Hu. “Over the last 30 years, we have made significant progress in water science and technology. I am excited about our work to address both local and global water issues, especially through innovative approaches to water reuse.”
Founded in 1990, the European Academy of Sciences and Arts brings together more than 2,000 leading scientists, artists and governance practitioners, including Nobel Prize laureates, to advance interdisciplinary and cross-border collaboration.
