Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) in Environmental Engineering – Clean Energy Materials
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS-CEE) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Environmental Engineering, with a specialization in materials science for clean energy and environmental sustainability.
We seek outstanding candidates who will establish an internationally recognized, externally funded research program at the interface of materials science, environmental engineering, and clean energy technologies. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the department's strategic vision of advancing sustainable solutions to global energy and environmental challenges through innovative materials research.
Research Areas
We welcome applicants working in, but not limited to, the following areas:
- Advanced materials for hydrogen production and carbon dioxide utilization
- Functional nanomaterials for environmental remediation and resource recovery
- Environmental applications of advanced functional materials and interfaces
Candidates whose research complements and strengthens existing departmental expertise while fostering interdisciplinary collaborations are particularly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Develop an internationally competitive and externally funded research program.
- Publish in leading peer-reviewed journals and contribute to scientific leadership in the field.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in environmental engineering and related areas.
- Supervise graduate students and mentor undergraduate researchers.
- Collaborate with faculty across engineering and science disciplines to address emerging sustainability challenges.
- Contribute to curriculum development in clean energy and sustainability.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- A Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated excellence in research through high-quality publications and strong potential to secure competitive research funding.
- A commitment to excellence in teaching and student mentoring.
- The ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary academic environment.
Postdoctoral experience and expertise in translating fundamental materials research into practical environmental and energy technologies will be viewed favorably.

Faculty Position in Digital Construction Management
The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for faculty positions in the area of digital construction management. The candidate should hold a doctorate in civil engineering and construction and project management, preferably with background and experience in, but not limited to, autonomous system, augmented reality, building information modeling (BIM), smart system, internet of things (IoT), big data analytics, horizontal and vertical integration, artificial intelligence and 3D printing. Relevant experience and professional qualifications (e.g. professional engineer) in civil engineering will be considered favorably. The opening is at the Assistant Professor or Lecturer level. Exceptionally well qualified applicants may be considered at the Associate Professor level.
Postdoctoral experience is highly desirable. The successful candidate must be able to teach effectively in English at both undergraduate and graduate levels and develop an active research programme.
