BIM Immersion Trip 2018

Tokyo, Japan

Building Information Modelling (BIM) Immersion and Competition (2018), is an annual event organized by National University of Singapore in collaboration with different universities and BIM software vendors, to enhance opportunities for students to learn and explore the real-life usage of BIM authoring tools. The 2018 event was organized at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan from 10th Dec to 15th Dec 2018. 14 students from Project and Facilities Management course were selected to participate in the event. GRAPHISOFT, a leading BIM based solution provider also collaborated in the event. This year the theme of the event was to “learn to deliver a well-planned, cost effective and environmentally friendly facility with BIM and algorithmic design”. One of the team from NUS showed exemplary performance and won the Overall Best Design Award (Team) along with a prize money of 1500$

BIM Immersion Trip 2017

Melbourne, Australia

A BIM Immersion Trip 2017 was organized between NUS and RMIT University,Melbourne. The purpose of this trip was to increase opportunities for students to learn and explore the real life usuage of BIM authoring tools . The trip included different seminars from industry guests, site visits and workshops to help participants understand digital concepts and processes as well as to learn about, how they can be applied in practice.

5D BIM Immersion and Competition 2016

Melbourne, Australia

A 5D BIM Immersion and Competition 2016 was held in Melbourne. The purpose of this competition was to increase enhance opportunities for students to learn and explore the real life usuage of BIM authoring tools . This 5D BIM competition has been designed to help participants understand digital concepts and processes as well as how they can be applied in practice. The students were divided into different small teams. The PFM students participated in the Building Information Modelling (BIM) Immersion and Competition at the University of Melbourne, Australia, from 5th to 9th December 2016 and won all the prizes (1st to 3rd place)

5D BIM Immersion and Competition 2015

Melbourne, Australia

A 5D BIM Immersion and Competition 2015 was held in Melbourne with participants from University of Melbourne, NUS and University of Los Andes, Columbia. The purpose of this competition was to increase learning and teaching opportunities for students as well as enhancing the research collaboration between universities and industry. This 5D BIM competition has been designed to help participants understand digital concepts and processes as well as how they can be applied in practice. The PFM students participated in the Building Information Modelling (BIM) Immersion and Competition at the University of Melbourne, Australia, from 7 to 11 December 2015 and won the following placings:

  • Lim Yong Khoon Ben - 1st place
  • Ho Min Pei - 2nd place
  • Janice Chen Jia Xin - 3rd place
  • Hu Richen - 3rd place

5D BIM Immersion and Competition 2014

Melbourne, Australia

A special five day event on "5D BIM" was held in Melbourne Australia, involving presenters and students from the University of Melbourne, the National University of Singapore, and AEC industry. The event explored integration of building information modelling (BIM) and cost estimating (5D) while discussing how BIM can be helpful in estimating, scheduling and costing. It was discussed that with this integration, a change in the design can immediately show impact on program and budget. It was also discussed that it can provide the project teams with cash flow forecasts, detailed risk analyses, some accurate cash flow forecasts and even sometimes resource forecasts.
