Associate Professor Wang Tong
Associate Professor, Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Management

Associate Professor Wang Tong joined the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Management in Jan 2025. His research focuses on applying Operations Research, Data Analytics, and Machine Learning methodologies in practical problems in Supply Chain Management and Retail Operations. Before joining ISEM, he was Director of Supply Chain Algorithms at Digital Supply Chain, Alibaba Group, from 2019 to 2023, and an Assistant Professor and then Associate Professor at NUS Business School from 2008 to 2019. Tong received his PhD in Decision Sciences from INSEAD, France/Singapore. He is married with two children. He enjoys rock climbing and biking when not working.

Dr Wan Yi
Assistant Professor, Department of Materials Science and Engineering

Dr Wan Yi received her BEng degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the Southern University of Science and Technology and her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. She subsequently served as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hong Kong, where her research focuses on elucidating the vapor-phase growth kinetics and thermodynamics that govern crystallisation pathways, domain formation, defect generation, and interface properties in 2D materials. In January 2025, she joined the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at National University of Singapore as an Assistant Professor.

Dr Liu Chang
Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering

Dr Chang Liu (Will) obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and subsequently received her Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hong Kong (HKU). During her postdoctoral research, she had conducted research at MIT and HKU, working on low-grade heat recovery, hydrovoltaic energy harvesting, and smart cooling materials. Dr Liu has been dedicated to the development of intelligent soft materials and innovative green energy devices, focusing on applications in energy harvesting, energy saving, and water harvesting.

Mr Zhang Haoyu
Teaching Assistant, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Haoyu joined the department as a Teaching Assistant in December 2024. He received his Bachelor's Degree with Honours (Highest Distinction) in Computer Engineering from NUS, with a second major in Mathematics. He teaches tutorials in courses such as Programming Methodology and Machine Learning offered by ECE.

Ms Tay Lynn
Assistant Manager, Dean’s Office

Lynn recently joined CDE after successfully completing the NUS Management Associate Programme. She gained valuable experience at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, supporting research projects. She managed stakeholder coordination, performed detailed data analysis, and presented findings for policy implementation at the university level. Additionally, she contributed significantly to system enhancements and user training as a member of the OHR Digitalisation Team.

With a Bachelor of Social Science from Singapore Management University and a Diploma in Human Resources Management with Psychology from Singapore Polytechnic, Lynn is well-equipped with strong communication, collaboration, and analytical skills. In her new role, she will support the Deputy Deans of the College in strategic planning and enhancing the College’s operational effectiveness in the areas of education and research.

Ms Chua Jing Ling Jenny
Assistant Manager, Office of Alumni Relations, Dean’s Office

Jenny joined the CDE, Dean’s Office (Office of Alumni Relations) after completing the NUS Management Associate (MA) Programme. During the programme, she gained experience across multiple departments. Her diverse portfolio includes rotations at the Centre for Future-Ready Graduates, where she organised large-scale events such as the CDE Career Fair and NUS Career Fest, supported initiatives like Internship-As-A-Service, and contributed to the planning of a Global Industry Insights trip. At CDE, she contributed to process optimisation initiatives, including the Academic Programme Performance Tracking System and the Integrated Facilities x Event Management Optimisation project. She also supported outreach initiatives such as the NUS Open House and CDE e-Open House for prospective students.

In her MA role at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Jenny managed executive education workshops and high-profile events like the GCEW Report Launch and the ASEAN Power Grid Agenda Setting Dialogue, where she handled stakeholder engagement and event logistics. Now, with the Office of Alumni Relations, she will focus on contributing to the various alumni engagement programmes.

Ms Nicholette Chua Kai Zhi
Assistant Manager, Office of Student Life, Dean’s Office

Nicholette joined the CDE, Dean’s Office (Office of Student Life), Careers and Internships Team at the start of the new year. She was formerly a Management Associate who had the opportunity to rotate through Office of Human Resources (Learning & Development Team), Office of Student Affairs (Sports Unit) and NUS Agility Office. She is excited to experience working in a faculty setting and looks forward to meeting her new CDE colleagues.

Retirement

Mr Sit Beng Chiat, Laboratory Manager, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, last day of service on 31 January 2025.

We would like to express our deepest appreciation to Mr Sit for his remarkable dedication and contributions to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering over the past four decades. His tireless efforts and commitment have been pivotal in shaping the department's growth and success. Mr Sit's expertise, professionalism, and unwavering support have influenced many students and colleagues. We wish him all the best as he embarks on this well-deserved next chapter of his life.
