EG3301R Project Showcase 2022

EG3301R-showcase-resized

EG3301R Ideas to Proof-of-Concept is the year-long design project module for Year 2/3 students in the Innovation & Design Programme. In this module, students learn how to define a design problem to address, generate and evaluation concept solutions, and build proof-of-concept prototypes of their solutions by working in an open-ended project with their peers and mentors from different disciplines. It is their first experience of a major, complex project in the Innovation & Design Programme.

We held our first project showcase for EG3301R on 11 November 2022. A total of 36 project teams were exhibited to students, alumni, faculty members, and industry partners and the event was live-stream via our social media channels. Find out more about the projects below!

Hospitals of the future – improving post-discharge information management

In this project, we designed a care synopsis web app to overcome the challenges of effective communication between hospitals and patients.

EIM-333

Insta polar

In this project, we designed a portable cooling solution to allow for immediate intervention to intercept the onset of exertional heat stroke when soldiers are out in the field.

Pre-crawler device for infants

In this project, we created a rehabilitation solution for children with cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy by utilising a motorised exoskeleton supported by a frame for repetitive motions.

Innovating for Future Mobility

Trolley electrification

In this project, we designed an improved actuation system for an existing autonomous robot to collect multiple trolleys at an airport.

Innovating for Smarter Living

Automation of safety alerts at worksites

In this project, we designed a solar powered, 4G enabled, and artificial intelligence-based solution for real-time and effective monitoring of safety breaches at worksites.

Cleaner air for better healthcare

This project aims to investigate indoor air quality in hospital wards and propose solutions to improve the indoor air quality in hospital wards.

Energy efficient wearable devices

This project aims to increase the usage time of truly wireless earbuds by having a necklace that provides charge to the earbuds while using them as well as clothing that uses metamaterial to efficiently direct Bluetooth signal to the earbuds.

Optimising warehouse processes

During this project, we designed a easily integrated software solution that aims to reduce the inefficiencies of manual processes within warehouses of small and medium enterprises in Singapore.

Smart and sustainable consumer electronics

This project aims to meld audio with luxury in a greener, longer-lasting product by using more sustainable parts within the next generation of our client’s product by providing battery alternatives and modularity while having a more sustainable packaging.

Vending machine for prototyping components

In this project, we designed a vending machine to improve component stock management and track students’ components usage in order to provide the data for implementation of policies that will help address the problem with accountability.

Innovating for Sustainable Cities

SSC-305

Community urban farming

This project aims to increase yield of a hydroponic urban farming system by increasing the capacity while using the same amount of space as compared to previous iterations, as well as modularise the hydroponic system to provide ease of maintenance.

Conversion of household food waste to eco-enzyme

This project aims to create an automated, end-to-end, food waste upcycling system involving the conversion of food waste to eco-enzyme to make food waste upcycling, specifically eco-enzyme production, more convenient and accessible for household residents.

Generating power through heat

In this project, we aim to recover waste heat energy from low temperature applications and convert into electricity.
