Minor in Systems Engineering

This minor, offered by the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Management, will ground the engineering students with a solid foundation of systems engineering principles. It will also develop students with analytical mindset and techniques to tackle with trade-offs in order to optimize the performance of the systems within the relevant constraints to meet the requirements of the integrated global systems.

Eligibility

Students may be admitted to the programme based on the following criteria:

  • Students can apply on admission or after they have completed their first year of study;
  • Must apply no later than the 5thsemester of their study;
  • Must have a GPA score of at least 3.5.

Application Procedure

To apply for Minor in Systems Engineering, students must write to ug_isem@nus.edu.sg before the 5th semester of study. Late applications will not be entertained.

Application period: Week 13 to Reading Week.

For students admitted in AY2019/2020 Intake and after

Requirements

The minor in Systems Engineering will be awarded on satisfactory completion of the following 5 courses (20 units):

  1. IE2110 Operations Research I
  2. IE2111 Industrial & Systems Engineering Principles & Practice II
  3. IE2141 Systems Thinking and Dynamics
  4. IE3105 Fundamentals in Systems Engineering & Architecture
  5. IE3102A Systems Engineering Project *

* By pre-allocation. Eligible students should contact ISEM Department at ug_isem@nus.edu.sg to indicate their intention to take IE3102A before term starts:

    • Semester 1 – Contact the Department by March.
    • Semester 2 – Contact the Department by October.
