Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal

The Chinese Newspapers Division of Singapore Press Holdings and Sony Systems Design International Pte Ltd jointly produced a CD-ROM on the then Senior Minister, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew in 1995. With the consent of the Mr Lee, the net proceeds from the sale of 100 gold-plated CD-ROM and 20,000 copies of the CD-ROM together, with a transit link farecard, were donated to the Universities Endowment Fund in 1996 for the purpose of instituting awards of the Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medals.

The award is governed by the following conditions:

1. Subject to rule 3 below, the proceeds from the capital sum will be used to award gold medals to the best performing graduates throughout the course of study for the following programmes:
   1. Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial and Systems Engineering
   2. Bachelor of Technology in Industrial and Management Engineering
   3. Bachelor of Technology in Supply Chain Management

2. The medals will be awarded by the Board of Graduate/Undergraduate Studies or its nominee.
3. No award will be made unless there are candidates of sufficient merit.
4. If no award is made in any year, the funds available will be added to the capital sum.
5. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.
