MSE Summer School: Novel Frontiers in Two-Dimensional Quantum Materials

The MSE Summer School: Novel Frontiers in Two-Dimensional Quantum Materials was held at the College of Design and Engineering from 6 to 10 July 2026. We were delighted to welcome 100 participants from Singapore and around the world for an engaging week of lectures and discussions on the latest advances in two-dimensional quantum materials.

During this 5-day event, our 19 distinguished invited speakers delivered outstanding lectures and generously shared their expertise and insights with participants. Their enthusiasm for engaging in insightful discussions created an enriching and inspiring learning environment, making the programme a truly memorable experience for everyone. We hope this summer school has provided a valuable forum for scientific exchange and the establishment of new collaborations. We look forward to organising the next edition.

NUS CDE researchers integrated 2D materials on gallium nitride microchips to develop high-frequency switches for 5G and 6G telecommunication. Our mobile phones today handle far more wireless signals and services than earlier generations. The same is true of the sophisticated equipment behind mobile networks, such as base stations, and emerging technologies such as self-driving cars.
