CDE receives S$150,000 gift from The Masonic Charitable Fund

On 1 November 2022, two gift agreement signing and cheques presentation ceremonies were held at the National University of Singapore College of Design and Engineering (NUS CDE) establishing two endowed bursaries:

Masonic Charitable Fund - AWS Thevathasan Zetland in the East Lodge Bursary and

Masonic Charitable Fund - AWS Thevathasan Dalhousie Chapter Bursary

Masonic Charitable Fund - AWS Thevathasan Zetland in the East Lodge Bursary is made possible by a generous donation of a S$100,000 gift from The Masonic Charitable Fund, AWS Thevathasan Family and Zetland in the East Lodge to CDE. The gift agreement was signed by Dr Brian Shegar, Chairman of The Masonic Charitable Fund, Dr Ivor Thevathasan, Dr Suresh B Babu, Worshipful Master of Zetland in the East Lodge, and Professor Aaron Thean, Dean of CDE. Dr Shegar, Dr Ivor Thevathasan and Dr Suresh B Babu presented the cheque to Professor Thean on behalf of The Masonic Charitable Fund.

Masonic Charitable Fund - AWS Thevathasan Dalhousie Chapter Bursary is made possible by a generous donation of a S$50,000 gift from The Masonic Charitable Fund, AWS Thevathasan Family and Dalhousie Chapter to CDE. The gift agreement was signed by Dr Brian Shegar, Chairman of The Masonic Charitable Fund, Dr Ivor Thevathasan, Mr Paul Yong Way, Principal Z of Dalhousie Chapter, and Professor Aaron Thean, Dean of CDE. Dr Shegar, Dr Ivor Thevathasan and Mr Paul Yong Way presented the cheque to Professor Thean on behalf of The Masonic Charitable Fund.

These two gifts are the fifth endowment gift the Masonic Charitable Fund has made to CDE this year. In January, Masonic Charitable Fund - Lodge Singapore donated S$25,000 to the College; In April, The Masonic Charitable Fund John William Wilson donated S$50,000; and in October, Masonic Charitable Fund - Sivakumar Murugaiyan Lion of Erin Lodge donated S$100,000.

Paired with government matching funds, the two gifts will enable the College to award six bursaries to financially disadvantaged students each year.
