Curriculum
Programme Structure:
| Period | Institution | Programme / Study | Key Components | Outcome |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Year 1 | NUS | MSc (Biomedical Engineering) | Complete required coursework (36 units) with emphasis on biomedical engineering fundamentals, theoretical knowledge and academic learning. | Continue to Year 2 of the Dual Master’s Degree Programme. |
| Year 2 | NUS + THU | NUS MSc (Biomedical Engineering) + THU Master’s Programme | NUS: Complete the 4-Unit Independent Research Project (BN5001) under the supervision of NUS faculty and THU faculty at THU. Upon completion, students fulfil the 40 Units required for the NUS MSc degree. THU: Begin engineering practice and research training, and commence Master's thesis work under the guidance of THU advisors and respective departments. *BN5001 will be mapped to an equivalent THU course. |
Students who fulfil all NUS graduation requirements will be awarded the MSc (Biomedical Engineering) by NUS. |
| Year 3 | THU | THU Master of Engineering Programme | Continue advanced coursework, research training and other academic requirements at THU. Complete the Master's thesis and fulfil the graduation requirements of the respective THU department. | Students who fulfil all THU graduation requirements will be awarded the Master of Engineering degree by THU. |
| Upon Completion | NUS + THU | Dual Master’s Degree | Successfully complete the graduation requirements of both universities. | Two Master’s degrees: MSc (Biomedical Engineering) from NUS + Master of Engineering from THU. |
Programme Duration: 3 years
Maximum Annual Intake: 15 students
Degree Requirements for MSc (Biomedical Engineering)
The graduation requirements for the degree of MSc in NUS include accumulating a total of no less than 40 Units and obtaining a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 (equivalent to the Grade of B-) for the best courses equivalent of 40 Units (inclusive of foundation/core courses, where required). Each graduate course of 39 lecture hours is usually assigned 4 Units.
Candidature
Students who wish to enrol in the Master Plus Programme must complete their full-time studies at NUS within a maximum candidature period of one year.
Graduation Requirements for MSc (Biomedical Engineering)
The MSc Programme in Biomedical Engineering has been designed to bridge evolving needs of both research and industrial organisations.
To qualify for the degree Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering, a full-time candidate must successfully complete a programme of study consisting of at least 40 Units, which consists of the following:
- Complete 1 core course from the Core Course list (4 Units)
