Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Biomaterials)

Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and self-motivated postdoctoral research fellow to join our multidisciplinary team working on the development of novel polymers and their supramolecular self-assembled nanostructures forming smart (bio)materials, hydrogels, and micro- and nanoparticles, for nanomedicine, bioimaging, tissue engineering, and environmental sustainability applications. The successful candidate will be expected to work with a group of other researchers from various disciplines and assist the principal investigator in guiding junior researchers and graduate students as well as in managing project and laboratory. Qualifications

· PhD degree in materials, chemistry, chemical engineering, biology, biomedical engineering, environmental engineering, or any other related fields.

· Published in reputable international journals.

· Good written and spoken communication skills in English.

About Cardiovascular Engineering and Technologies Theme The Cardiovascular Engineering and Technologies (CET) Theme aims to (1) advance scientific understanding of the mechanical function of the heart and blood vessels, in health and disease; and (2) develop innovative technologies in cardiovascular diagnosis and treatment. The team comprises biomedical engineers and clinical investigators from many institutions island-wide. Job Description:  The laboratory of Assistant Professor (Presidential Young Professorship) Liu Yuxin in the Biomedical Engineering Department at National University of Singapore seeks 1-2 postdoctoral fellows with strong enthusiasm and interest in flexible electronics, bioelectronics, neurotechnology, brain-machine-interface research.   Biological systems are typically soft and highly dynamic with cellular growth and functional self-renewal, while conventional implantable electronics are rigid and unable to intelligently accommodate a complex biological microenvironment, leading to the enormous functional and biomechanical gap at the bio-electronics interface. Through electronic material development and nano/microfabrication innovation, we will develop next-generation polymeric electronic materials and microelectronics that mimic the properties of biological tissue, autonomously respond to rapid cellular growth, while providing chronic and high-bandwidth neural-machine communication at single-cell precision. Requirement:The candidates should have a PhD degree in one of the following disciplines: Applied Physics/Biophysics, Analytical Chemistry, Optical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, or equivalent.   Hands-on experience in SERS, Raman, FT-IR, L-MS, GC/LC-MS, NMR, chemometrics, and optical instrumentation, biomedical optics and imaging, such as optical spectroscopy, microscopy, and fiber optics and optical design, etc., are preferred.   Experience in SERS fabrications, cell culture and tissue handlings is plus.   Proficiencies in biostatistics (e.g., multivariate analysis), machine learning, and programming using C++, python, Matlab, are advantageous.Â

Job Description:A Postdoctoral Fellow position in chemometrics analysis and high resolution FT-IR/Raman imaging for biomedical spectroscopy and bioimaging is immediately available in Optical Bioimaging Lab in Dept of Biomedical Engineering, National University of Singapore.   The candidates should have a PhD degree in one of the following disciplines: Analytical Chemistry, Applied Physics, computer science/engineering, biomedical engineering or related areas (e.g., analytical chemistry, informatics, biostatistics, signal processing etc.).   Excellent skills in chemoinformatics, bioinformatics, QSAR/QSPR/ADME modelling, statistical experimental design, high throughput screening, library design, machine learning and virtual screens are preferred.    Skilled in spectroscopic analysis and methods, like Raman, FT-IR, fluorescence, etc   Proficiency in analytical chemistry and multivariate data analysis, particularly FT-IR/Raman, HPLC, GC, MS, XPS, NMR, SEM spectroscopy.   Proficiency in biostatics and C++, MATLAB programming and Labview/GUI design, and preferably chemometric software development is advantageous.

Experience in biophotonics and biomedical Raman spectroscopy and FT-IR is also advantageous.

Postdoctoral Fellow in nonlinear optical microscopy and super-resolution microscopy

A Postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately for the project involved in the development of super-resolution nonlinear optical microscopy for label-free nano-imaging.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in one of the following disciplines: Physical Optics, Applied Optics/Applied Physics; Optical Engineering and instrumentation, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent qualifications.

Demonstrated excellence in one or more of the following areas is required: super-resolution microscopy (STED, PALM, STORM, etc), nonlinear optics and microscopy (SRS/CARS, SHG, THG, etc.); fiber-optics and imaging; SERS, near-field optics and surface plasmon; tip-enhanced Raman technique, ultrafast laser technique; laser spectroscopy; optoelectronics.

Hands-on experience in ultrafast lasers and pulse shaping/spectral focusing are a must.

Proficiency in programming using C++, Matlab, Labview/GUI is advantageous.

Creativity and independence are highly desirable.
