Assoc/Prof Raye Yeow and Research Team Featured in Straits Times

Assoc/Prof Raye Yeow and team demonstrated the GourmetGrip system to Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr Gan Kim Yong, and SATS President and Chief Executive, Mr Kerry Mok. The GourmetGrip is a reconfigurable hybrid robotic gripper system that is capable of handling food delicately like a human hand; currently it can pick and place over 50 different types of food items of various shapes, sizes and stiffness, for automated assembly of various meal types, including inflight meals, bento sets, and hospital meals. This project was funded by the National Robotics R&D Programme Office, with the technology now commercialized by NUS startup RO+.
