Founded in 1951, the SPSJ comprises around 10,000 members across academia, industry, and government. The SPSJ International Award was established in 1994 to recognize international researchers who have made outstanding contributions to the field of polymer science and engineering, as well as to academic exchange with Japan. Conferred to at most 4 recipients each year, it is the highest honor bestowed by SPSJ upon international scholars. Notably, this marks the first time a researcher from Singapore has received the award since its inception in 1994. The award was presented in recognition of Prof Li’s research on “Supramolecular Polymers and Hydrogels for Nanomedicine and Sustainability Applications.” As part of the program, Prof Li was invited to deliver a keynote lecture at the 75th SPSJ Symposium on Macromolecules on 2 September, followed by the Award Ceremony on 3 September 2026.
