Scientific research

My main research interest is the development and use of computational models of biological systems at different scales. I have been involved in modelling the function of the heart and the gastrointestinal system in health and disease. Focus areas include:

  1. Modelling protein kinetics of ion channels
  2. Biophysical models of the cellular electrical activity that underlies contraction of the heart and the stomach
  3. Cellular coupling and whole organ electrophysiology
  4. Development of efficient C++ code for solving large scale finite elements problems in computational biology (see here)
