Dr Zhang Mingchao
Assistant Professor, Department of Materials Science and Engineering 

Dr Zhang received a Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart, Germany. In July 2021, he earned his PhD in Physical Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Materials Chemistry from China University of Geosciences, Beijing, China. His current research focused on small-scale intelligent polymer materials and nano/microstructures.

Staff Retirement

Mdm Ah Lian Kiat, Laboratory Technologist in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, last day of service is on 31 December 2024.

Madam Ah Lian Kiat has played a key role in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering over the years.

Her helpful and pleasant attitude and high level of competence in managing her laboratories has allowed many cohorts of students in the Dept. to have meaningful and worthwhile experiences here.

Mdm Ah played a key role in the renovation and commissioning of the Faraday Lab when it first opened. The optoelectronics and microelectronics experiments conducted in the Lab have proven useful and highly enriching for the students.

In her procurement roles, faculty members working with Mdm Ah have benefited from her dedication in making the procedure seem straightforward and simple, Mdm Ah will be sorely missed.

With her years of dedication to the education of future engineers and safe running of labs, Mdm Ah can surely be proud of the role she has played in training future engineers.

We wish her the very best in her retirement.
