Admissions: MSc in Engineering Design & Innovation

Admission Requirements

Admission to this MSc programme is granted on a competitive basis as places in the programme are limited.

Applicants should possess the following minimum requirements:

Academic Bachelor’s Degree (preferably with Honours) in Engineering, Computing, Business Studies, Industrial Design or equivalent disciplines
Skill/Experience
  • Any significant experience in prototyping will be considered. Applicants who have relevant experience are encouraged to include a statement to describe the prototype, the purpose of the prototype, the skills they have learnt, etc.
  • Design portfolios (if any) will also be considered.
English Language proficiency Applicants whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate their English proficiency by means of either of the following tests:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with minimum score of 85 (Internet-based)
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with minimum Academic score of 6.0

Note: TOEFL / IELTS scores are valid for two years from the test date and should not have expired at point of application. Those who apply with expired scores will be rejected.

Applicants may be waived from this requirement if they completed their degree programme taught entirely in English in one of the following countries: Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, United Kingdom, USA.

Application Period

An academic year (AY) at NUS consists of two regular semesters and a Special Term:

  • Semester 1: August to December
  • Semester 2: January to May
  • Special Term: May to July

The next intake will be for the August 2025 semester. The application window for this intake will be open from 1 October 2024 to 28 February 2025. Applications must be submitted via the NUS Graduate Admission System.
