Mark Chong

Biography

Mark obtained his PhD in Bioengineering from the National University of Singapore in 2010. He then joined the National University Health System as a Research Fellow, where he was part of the team working on translational regenerative medicine projects, including clinical trials for stem cell therapeutics. He is currently a senior lecturer in the National University of Singapore, where he shares his time between the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Innovation and Design Program. In 2017, Mark undertook the Singapore-Stanford Biodesign Fellowship while on sabbatical, and now contributes time as the Faculty Fellowship Head for Singapore Biodesign, where he devotes time towards efforts in building the local MedTech Ecosystem.

Mark particularly enjoys working with students who are passionate about their projects, and strongly believes that he should always put in just as much effort as his students do. Aside from teaching, Mark maintains a keen interest in innovation and enterprise activities, ranging from start-ups to community engineering projects.
