OVERVIEW

The research-based programmes provide training in a particular subject area through independent investigation, study and experimental work, culminating in the submission of a thesis on the research undertaken. Excellent opportunities are available for students to be immersed in a vibrant research-intensive environment in any of our departments in the pursuit of a research degree.

The PhD Programme provides rigorous training in various subject areas through independent investigation, study, and experimental work. Students under the supervision of world-class research thesis advisors, while developing novel solutions to global challenges.

The EngD programme offers a unique opportunity for students to delve into deeply technical industrial research, equipping them with the expertise to drive innovation and create impactful products and services.

The IPP is a full-time programme leading to a thesis based on research in partnership with companies. It is ideal for future academics and/or industry researchers.

  • Candidates applying for EngD/PhD programmes or University's Scholarships (NUS Research Scholarships or President Graduate Fellowships) are expected to have a Bachelor degree with at least Second Class Upper Honours or its equivalent.
  • Candidates are required to submit GRE [minimum score of 320 (Verbal & Quantitative Total) and 3.5 (Analytical)].
  • Candidates who graduated from universities where English is not the language of instruction must take the TOEFL or IELTS. Candidates are to obtain the following minimum scores:
    TOEFL score of 85 for Internet Based Test (IBT); or
    IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0.

Tuition Fees payable would be dependent on the type of programme, nationality, and whether candidates had previously enjoyed a Ministry of Education (MOE)/Singapore government subsidy or sponsorship by a government agency. 

The tuition fees are published on the  Office of the University Registrar website.  Tuition fees are reviewed yearly and thus, subjected to revisions.
