More than 300 participants attended the annual workshop, many from the United States, China, Singapore, United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Portugal, Korea, Japan, etc.

The scope of the workshop was expanded to cover the advanced characterization of materials, structures, and devices for information technologies, energy conversion and storage, as well as biological systems, reflecting the ever-increasing impact of the AFM community. It offers an exciting scientific forum to exchange ideas, strengthen collaborations, and foster friendships.

This workshop was organized and hosted by the micro-and nano-technology sub-society under the Chinese Ceramic Society, China University of Geosciences and International Advisory Board of PFM Workshop. This is the fourth time that the workshop is held in China, following the successful workshops in Beijing University of Science and Technology in 2010, Nanjing University in 2013 and Beihang University in 2016. The best poster awards were selected from more than 80 posters presented during the workshop, Ms. Sun Yao being one of nine award winners. The award was presented by Prof. R.
