Congratulations to Dr Lim Ser Yong on being selected as a winner of the International Biodiversity on Campus Photo Contest 2025. From June to November 2025 the contest drew strong participation from students researchers and staff across the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU) with 263 entries close to 20,000 online views and 1,500 public votes.

Dr Lim photograph titled Olive backed Sunbird Nesting in NUS was selected by a jury composed of staff and students from IARU member universities. The mobile exhibition was first unveiled at ETH Zurich on 9 December 2025 during the ETH Sustainability Summit and is now on display at the ML Building, E Floor until 25 December 2025. This achievement brings pride to the Mechanical Engineering (ME) Department and highlights the biodiversity found across the NUS campus.
Members of our department who are passionate about biodiversity are warmly encouraged to join the 2026 ISCN Biodiversity Photo Contest and showcase nature on campus. Submissions open from 5 January to 28 February 2026 and we look forward to seeing more ME stories come to life through images and words.

Many birds can be seen around the engineering blocks of NUS it is exciting to see the sunbird nesting so close to human traffic and it shows the biodiversity of the campus is well maintained
