Admission requirements
Our ME, RMI and ESP majors are under the common "Engineering" admissions programme with a common set of entry requirements and a single admissions standard. If admitted, you will be given your choice of major; there are no internal quotas, and you will be placed where you want to go.
Qualification | Subject Requirements | |
---|---|---|
Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Level | Pass in H2 Mathematics or Further Mathematics | |
Polytechnic Diploma from Singapore | Click here for lists of accepted diplomas | |
NUS High School Diploma | A good major GPA in Mathematics | |
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma | Pass in HL MAA (Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches) |
While physics is not required for admission, those without H2 Physics (or equivalent) may be asked to take a bridging course to prepare for higher-level courses that require this knowledge.
Selection tests or interviews are not required except for applicants under consideration for scholarships or aptitude-based (discretionary) admission.
Click here for the list of double-degrees, double majors, minors and specialisations you can apply to. The subject requirements are the same. Note that these and many other options are still available to you after you enrol in NUS.
Indicative Grade Profile
Indicative Grade Profiles of the 10th and 90th percentiles of A-Level and Polytechnic Applicants offered places in the last academic year can be found here.
NUS provides notification of grade profiles to help you make informed choices in your application for admission to NUS undergraduate programmes. Do note that grade profiles vary from year to year and meeting a previous year’s grades does NOT guarantee admission for future years. Please read the full details of the grade profiles carefully before using the information as your guide.
First Choice Bonus Points
To support and encourage you to pursue your passions and interest, NUS offers First Choice Bonus Points, where you will get bonus points added to your admission score for your first choice non-interview single degree programme* when NUS evaluates your application for admissions. For example, if you have A-levels qualifications and you apply for Mechanical Engineering (Aeronautical Engineering Specialisation) as your first choice in 2025, your admissions score would be increased by up to 2.5 points. Different bonus points are awarded for different qualifications.
* Excludes double-degree programmes, second majors, minors, E-Scholars and Engineering & Medicine Track
