Dr Li Jiayu
Assistant Professor, Department of the Built Environment

Dr Li was an Assistant Professional Researcher at the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to that, he served as a Senior Principal Research Officer at the National Environment Agency in Singapore. He received his PhD from Tianjin University, with joint training at RWTH Aachen University. His research focuses on creating healthier, more comfortable, and energy-efficient indoor environments, with a special emphasis on indoor air quality, airflow dynamics, airborne disease transmission, and innovative cooling technologies.

Dr Li Zaile
Assistant Professor, Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Management

Prior to joining NUS, Dr Li Zaile was a Postdoctoral Researcher at INSEAD and a member of the Healthcare Management Initiative. His research lies at the intersection of healthcare management, sequential learning, and stochastic simulation. In healthcare, he is particularly interested in improving the health innovation pipeline through approaches including adaptive clinical trial design, pricing, and portfolio operations. His methodological work focuses on offline learning, large-scale simulation optimisation, robust simulation optimisation, and decision making under uncertainty. He is also exploring the use of modern AI tools to enhance simulation-based decision support and healthcare operations.

Dr Lin Bo
Assistant Professor, Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Management

Dr Lin Bo's research focuses on AI for sustainable cities. He develops machine learning and optimisation techniques to evaluate, design, and help people interact with urban systems in a sustainable way. Motivated by practical challenges encountered in real-world deployment, the other line of his research focuses on integrating machine learning and optimisation, aiming to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and applicability of data-driven decision-making tools. His research has been recognised by several awards, including the INFORMS George B Dantzig Dissertation Award, the INFORMS Daniel H Wagner Prize, and the INFORMS TSL Best Student Paper Award, among many others. In 2023, he interned at Uber as an Applied Scientist.

Dr Zhou Quan
Assistant Professor, Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Management

Dr Zhou Quan received his PhD in Operations Management in 2026 from the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University. He also holds an MEng from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, and a BEng from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. His research addresses operational challenges arising from emerging technologies, with a focus on supply chain management, service management, and transportation. He investigates practically motivated research questions using methods such as dynamic programming, algorithm design, and econometric modelling. His work has been published in leading journals in operations management, such as Operations Research.

Mr Reuben Wang Xianwei
Teaching Assistant, Dean's Office

Reuben Wang Xianwei is a Teaching Assistant with NUS Cities. He is an NUS alumnus and holds a Master of Research in Human Geography. His work focuses on urban systems and urban morphology, with experience in GIS and computational methods for analysing urban form. He has teaching experience at both NUS and the University of Strathclyde, supporting undergraduate teaching and the communication of complex quantitative and technical concepts. He has also contributed to the development of interactive visual analytics platforms and web-based spatial mapping projects, including the Singapore Historical GIS (SHGIS) project.

Ms Latifah Binte Ali Rahman
Management Assistant Officer, Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

Ms Latifah brings with her experience in administration, facilities management, and office operations. She has supported a range of administrative and operational functions, including facilities coordination, stakeholder engagement, and customer service. She will be supporting the department's administrative operations. Outside of work, Latifah enjoys exploring cafés and is always keen to discover a good cup of coffee.

Ms Nor Azilina Binte Abdul Hyoom
Management Assistant Officer, Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

Ms Azilina brings with her several years of experience in logistics, operations, and administrative support. She was previously working as a Logistics Officer, where she handled customer coordination, order processing, and delivery arrangements. Prior to that, she held roles in business development and operations, gaining valuable experience in customer service and administration.

Staff Retirement

Associate Professor Fung John Chye
Department of Architecture

The Department of Architecture extends its heartfelt appreciation to Associate Professor Fung John Chye for his many years of dedicated service to NUS. Since joining the Department in 1998, Associate Professor Fung has been a deeply valued member of our community, progressing from part-time tutor to Adjunct faculty and, ultimately, Associate Professor in Practice. Over the years, he has touched the lives of countless students, bringing to the studio not only his expertise as a registered architect, but also a generosity of spirit and a passion for nurturing the next generation of architects.  At NUS, his contributions have been both wide-ranging and deeply impactful. He has been instrumental in advancing research and education in ageing, healthcare design, and high-density urban living, areas of growing importance to Singapore and beyond. Through his leadership of key initiatives, including the Centre for Ageing Research in the Environment (CARE), the Centre for Sustainable Asian Cities (CSAC) and Centre for Environment and Ageing Well (ENgAGE), he has helped position the University at the forefront of interdisciplinary research that addresses real-world societal challenges.  Beyond his formal roles, colleagues and students alike have benefited from his wisdom, mentorship, and steadfast commitment to excellence. His ability to bridge practice, research, and teaching has left a lasting imprint on the Department and the wider NUS community. As he embarks on his next chapter, we celebrate his remarkable contributions and thank him for the legacy he leaves behind. We wish Associate Professor Fung all the very best in his retirement.

 

Associate Professor Lim Ee Man, Joseph

The Department of Architecture extends its heartfelt appreciation to Professor Joseph Lim Ee Man for his many years of distinguished service to the National University of Singapore, as he retires on 30 June 2026. Since joining the University in 1985, he has devoted more than four decades to advancing architectural education, research, and practice at NUS. We are also delighted that he will continue his association with the University as Emeritus Professor with effect from 1 July 2026, an honour that reflects his exceptional contributions and enduring impact on the University and the discipline. Over the course of his remarkable career, he has been a deeply respected educator, researcher, and leader. He has played a pivotal role in shaping architectural education at NUS, inspiring generations of students with his intellectual curiosity, design innovation, and commitment to excellence. His dedication to teaching has been recognised with the College of Design and Engineering Teaching Excellence Award in 2024, while the many prestigious awards won by his students at both local and international levels stand as a testament to his mentorship and guidance. His work is distinguished by its forward-looking and interdisciplinary approach to architecture and infrastructure. His research on prototypical structures addressing emerging spatial and environmental challenges, including pioneering work on floating settlements and the adaptive reuse of marine structures, has gained international recognition. His publication, Oil Rig and Superbarge Floating Settlements, published by Springer, has been widely referenced and exhibited internationally, underscoring the global relevance and impact of his scholarship.

A strong advocate of design research, he has led innovative, industry-supported studios in collaboration with agencies such as JTC and MPA, advancing new ideas in land intensification, urban infrastructure, and future settlement models. His work has directly contributed to national-level conversations on urban development, including forward-looking studies on Tuas Port and other major infrastructure initiatives. Beyond academia, he has also made significant contributions to professional practice and public service. He played a leading role in post-tsunami rebuilding efforts in Aceh, Indonesia, and has received numerous accolades, including the National Day Award and the Ministry of National Development Award, in recognition of his dedicated service and leadership to both the profession and society. Within NUS, he has held important leadership roles, including serving as Vice Dean and Programme Director for both undergraduate and graduate programmes. Through these roles, he has shaped curriculum, strengthened academic programmes, and contributed to the strategic development of the Department and the broader College. Colleagues and students alike have benefited from his vision, generosity, and unwavering commitment to advancing the discipline. His ability to integrate research, practice, and education has left an enduring legacy on the Department and the wider architectural community.

As he embarks on this next chapter, we celebrate not only a distinguished career spanning over four decades at NUS, but also the profound and lasting impact he has made on generations of students, colleagues, and the profession. We thank him deeply for his service, warmly congratulate him on his appointment as Emeritus Professor, and wish him continued success and fulfilment in the years ahead.

 

Associate Professor Chiu Min-Sen

The Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering (ChBE) extends its sincere appreciation for Assoc Prof Chiu's valuable contributions and steadfast support. Throughout his appointment, his dedication to advancing education and research has greatly enriched the Department’s academic community and strengthened its standing. His commitment to mentoring students, supporting departmental initiatives, and sharing his expertise has made a lasting and meaningful impact on colleagues and learners alike. He has exemplified academic excellence, professionalism, and collegiality and has served as a respected role model within the Department. The Department expresses its sincere gratitude for Assoc Prof Chiu's years of service and for the positive influence he has had on the ChBE community.

 

Professor Koh Chan Ghee
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
Last day of service is on 30 June 2026

Prof Koh Chan Ghee joined the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) in 1981 and has served with great dedication, commitment and leadership throughout the years. His academic scholarship in engineering mechanics and structural monitoring has significantly enhanced the department’s academic standing, through his many contributions to international societies, journal editorial boards, patents and industry.

At NUS, he has served as Vice-Dean (Outreach and Research), Director of the Centre for Hazards Research, Director & Chair Professor of the Lloyd’s Register Foundation Institute for Public Understanding of Risk and more recently, as Director (Research) of the Coastal Protection & Flood Resilience Institute. His leadership roles have been instrumental in shaping and establishing new and important fields for NUS and indeed, for Singapore. In addition, he has been an exemplary teacher and mentor, inspiring generations of students at CEE.

We would like to thank Prof Koh for his outstanding contributions to NUS. We wish him happiness, good health and fulfillment in the next phase of his life.

 

Associate Professor Hari Garg Krishna
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Last day of service is on 30 June 2026

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering extends its appreciation for Assoc Prof Hari’s approximately 25 years of valuable service and contributions. His leadership of the communications and networks group in the department and entrepreneurship activities that translated research from NUS into startups is deeply appreciated.

He has led in bringing innovation to our curriculum, and his leadership in ensuring the success of the last two EAB accreditation visits has been invaluable to the department.

We wish him the very best for his future.

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering extends its sincere appreciation to Prof Ding Jun for his many years of dedicated service and contributions to NUS. Over the past 29 years, Prof Ding has contributed greatly to the Department through his work in research, education, administration, and professional service, and has played an important role in the growth and development of the Department. His leadership, commitment, and support for colleagues and students have been deeply valued by all of us. We are truly grateful for his contributions and friendship over the years, and we wish him good health, happiness, and continued success in his future endeavours.

 

Professor Fuh Ying Hsi, Jerry
Department of Mechanical Engineering
Last day of service is on 30 June 2026

Prof Jerry Fuh joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1993 and has since been a highly valued colleague and significant contributor to the NUS Mechanical Engineering community, with especially deep impact in the Manufacturing Division.

He has served the department with distinction, including as Head of the Manufacturing Division and as the Founding Director of the Centre for Additive Manufacturing, AM.NUS. He has demonstrated vision, dedication and a strong commitment to advancing manufacturing research, education and translation at NUS. His efforts has helped ensure the smooth and effective operation of the Manufacturing Division and AM.NUS, while strengthening the department’s capabilities and reputation in advanced manufacturing and additive manufacturing.

He has decided to retire after many dedicated years with our department. We are grateful for his dedicated service, leadership and lasting contributions.

We wish him happiness and fulfilment in this new chapter of life.

 

Professor Lu Li
Department of Mechanical Engineering

Prof Lu Li joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1991 and has since been a highly valued colleague and an important member of the NUS Mechanical Engineering community, with especially deep contributions to the Materials Division.

Over the years, he has served the department with distinction, including in his roles as Deputy Head for Undergraduate Programmes and Materials Laboratory Supervisor. He has demonstrated strong leadership, steady commitment and a deep sense of responsibility. His contributions helped ensure the smooth and effective operation of the Undergraduate Team and the Materials laboratories, supporting both the academic mission of the department and the learning experience of generations of students.

He has decided to retire after many dedicated years with our department. We are grateful for his dedicated service, collegiality and lasting contributions.
