CDE Innovation and Research Award and NUS Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Prize Winners
Congratulations to our students who received the CDE Innovation and Research Award and the NUS Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Prize for AY2025/2026!
Each year, CDE recognises the College’s strongest student research projects through the CDE Innovation and Research Award (IRA). From these outstanding projects, the top ten IRA recipients are nominated for the university-level Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Prize.
This year, eight CDE research projects were recognised at the university level — seven received the NUS Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Prize and one received the top-ranked Distinguished Undergraduate Researcher Prize in the Group category.

SHINE at CDE and STATS ChipPAC sign Research Collaboration Agreement on photonic packaging technologies
On 6 July 2026, the Singapore Hybrid-Integrated Next-Generation µ-Electronics Centre (SHINE) at CDE signed a Research Collaboration Agreement with STATS ChipPAC to advance photonic packaging technologies that could power the next generation of AI, high-performance computing and data-centric systems. The agreement was signed by SHINE Director Professor Aaron Voon-Yew Thean, Deputy President (Academic Affairs) and Provost, and STATS ChipPAC CEO Li Zheng.

NUS CDE and Stanford students co-create innovative new projects with Meta and Venture Corporation through the GEDI programme
After months of collaboration, experimentation and rapid prototyping, NUS CDE students have completed their final showcase at Stanford University as part of the Stanford Global Engineering Design Innovation (GEDI) programme, bringing their projects to an international stage. Building on work first developed under CDE4301 Innovation & Design Capstone — offered by the Innovation and Design Programme (iDP) at the Engineering Design and Innovation Centre (EDIC) within CDE — the students then worked alongside their Stanford counterparts to test assumptions, refine their thinking and further develop their prototypes.
Their projects, PrimeDrive and Golf Hawks, were created in response to briefs from Venture Corporation and Meta respectively. They evolved significantly through the experience, revealing not only new technical possibilities, but also deeper insights into user needs, trust, care, and the role of technology in shaping human experiences.

EDIC at CDE signs MOU with Alexandra Hospital to advance healthcare innovation
The NUS Engineering Design and Innovation Centre (EDIC) at CDE has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Alexandra Hospital to strengthen collaboration in healthcare innovation.
The partnership opens up exciting opportunities for students to work on real-world healthcare challenges, developing a pipeline of innovation projects with the potential to be implemented within Alexandra Hospital and the wider NUHS ecosystem.

NUS-ArCLab and Commonwealth Heritage Forum launch summer school on heritage skills and conservation
The National University of Singapore’s Architectural Conservation Laboratory (NUS-ArCLab) and the Commonwealth Heritage Forum (CHF) have launched the Introduction to Heritage Skills and Technology for Conservation, a two-week summer school. Run by NUS-ArCLab and funded by CHF, this programme brings together 24 selected participants from Commonwealth nations for lectures, hands-on workshops and site visits focused on stained glass, timber and lime.
