Opportunity Sought

The automotive industry currently faces challenges due to strained resources from dual ICE/EV investments, the commoditization of hardware as value shifts to software, and risks in the traditional thin-margin model from stagnant volumes and supply chain inflation.

AUMOVIO is seeking a Business Model Transformation proposal focused on Mobility SaaS. The team is to explore how we can decouple revenue growth from physical production volumes by monetizing data and “uptime.”

Market Areas to Explore:

  1. Predictive Maintenance (B2B): How can we use the sensor data from our components (e.g., vibration, temperature, voltage) to predict failure before it happens for logistics fleets or rental agencies?
    1.  Data-as-a-Service (DaaS): Can aggregated data from our components (e.g., road surface data from suspension, traffic data from ADAS) be packaged and sold to third parties like insurers or urban planners?
    1. Feature-on-Demand: Can we develop software layers that allow OEMs or end-users to “unlock” better performance or efficiency from our hardware via OTA (Over-the-Air updates?)

Some Key Questions for the Team:

  1. What are the opportunities available from the data and software? What are the potential business models?
  2. What would the solution look like?
  3. Who is the paying customer for this data (Fleet Manager? Insurer? City Council?) and what is their “willingness to pay”?

The solution is designed to detect and monitor the amount of biological contamination in food products like beer.  This innovative PCR test methods reduces the current food testing requirements from 1-2 days to 1hr without the need of testing laboratories or specifically trained personnel.  This is similar to the current PCR swab testing kits for Covid virus tests.

Endress+Hauser (E+H) is looking to identify market opportunities and applications for these innovative solutions in Singapore and South East Asia.

The Endress+Hauser Analysis System simplifies the entire lab workflow from sample to result. It combines the universal Device BAB00 with application-specific Kits and enables automated DNA/RNA extraction, multiplex PCR and data analysis in a compact format.

Some of the questions that the team will be looking at are:

  • Which industry, and what customers would be interested to have this solution which would fit their requirements?
  • Look into which business sectors would be the most attractive to maximize the best returns in the shortest period of time.
  • Are there any other un-explored areas that this solution could be used in?
  • Explore the possible product costing and to market pricing – by comparing the current testing methods and the cost-to benefit of adopting such a new PCR technology for food hygiene.
  • What further innovations need to happen to make it a viable opportunity in these new areas?
  • What are the potential business models?

Exploring new applications that can benefit from the ability to effortlessly provision access & track the right person/object/asset at the right time

igloo (www.igloocompany.co) provides smart access solutions to customers around the world. It began as a way to make key handovers easier for Airbnb hosts and has since evolved into managing access for both consumer and enterprise customers.

For the last 8 years, we’ve been capitalizing on the success of our AlgoPin technology that is core and unique to our devices. This feature has allowed us to win over competition, deploying over 500,000 devices globally.

Every customer of igloo has the choice of three software platforms: igloohome, iglooworks, or integration solutions. igloohome is our consumer mobile app, where we allow our customers to manage locks on the go using their account details, having access to all our free features. iglooworks is our enterprise management dashboard with a role-based mobile app, allowing business customers to perform more tasks at scale. Lastly, we also have integration platforms, known as iglooconnect and iglooaccess. iglooconnect is a marketplace for any 3rd party services linked to our locks (ie. Airbnb), and iglooaccess is our API/SDK portal.

Our customers now include: home-owners, retail and institutional landlords, property managers, boutique hotel/co-living operators, short-term rental hosts, and other sharing economy applications. Customers current pay for hardware directly or via our distribution network, and we collect ongoing software fees where applicable.

All our software features are based on our proprietary firmware stack that we’ve built – which includes BLE, LTE-M, AlgoPIN, Custom PIN, RFID, and Biometric. Our newest core tech addition to the tech expands on forms of digital keys, namely app-less NFC and algo-QR.
