Duration: 9 months (usually starts in Aug each year).

The objective of this project is to give students exposure to research. Each student is assigned to a research project that requires application of industrial and systems engineering concepts. The project is done by the student individually. The student will be taking courses during the 9 months period so it is not a full time work attachment. An actual industrial problem with potential research scope can be proposed. This project proposal is usually work out between the company and the interested faculty. Unlike the systems design project, results of the study may not necessarily be subjected to non-disclosure. It depends on the agreement between the NUS faculty member and the company concerned. Essentially, the thesis report is made publicly available. However, data from the company can be kept confidential. If the company has any specific project in mind, please write a short description and send it to isebox1@nus.edu.sg. We will try to match the company's proposal with staff member whom might be interested.
