Internships

Internships are a key facet of our emphasis on learning by doing. Through them, you gain perspectives on real-world issues while working on real-life projects alongside engineering practitioners.

You would embark on a compulsory* industrial attachment (IA) of at least 20 weeks (with optional extension to 24 weeks for extra 2 units) or a 12-week Vacation Internship Programme (VIP). During your IA, you are not eligible to read technical electives in the evenings to fulfill your major requirements.

Internship positions will be offered for your selection through an online internship portal. You may also source for your own internship opportunities with companies that are not in the portal.

* Internship is optional if you are a polytechnic graduate admitted directly to Year 2

Internship is also optional if you are in a special programme (i.e. Engineering Scholars, double-degree, concurrent degree) – the units for IA can be utilised as UEMs

If you matriculated in AY2017/2018 or earlier, your compulsory IA would be 24 weeks in length.
